What a blessed service it was today with our resident pastor. Pastor Ebenezer Korankye Agyapong spoke on the various things happening in our country most especially in the church. He emphasised that if care and attention was not taken, logic might come to rule the church in the few decades to come. He further explained that a personal relationship with God was necessary to deal with the attack on the Christian body.
Taking the theme text from Mathew 16:12-23, he went on to talk about the Christian walk which is totally based on Faith and not logic. He explained logic as a science of reasoning which can be easily understood. Faith on the other hand is choosing to believe even when things do not make sense. He mentioned that limiting our walk with God to logic and reasoning will lead to doubts about God and the very things he has said to us. Abraham was one of the heroes of faith who moved to a land God will show him even though he had not exactly seen the land yet.
In this era, most Christians want to use logic to understand Jesus. This has always led to fights in the body of Christ over what God has actually said and what man thinks. He also added that Christians must move from “what they know” to what “God is actually saying”. This he further explained, can only happen through an encounter with Jesus which is the fruit of a developed personal relationship with Him. Once an individual has truly encountered Christ, it is almost impossible to lose faith in who He really is.
Concluding, he challenged the congregation to go after true riches, which is an encounter with Jesus that will forever abide with and satisfy them. He led the congregation to pray for a closer walk with Jesus after the exhortation.
