Sunday's service with the children ministry was fun yet packed with spirit filled activities. The service was the climax of the week-long national children ministry week celebration themed “I will build my church – children are also part.” Matthew 16: 16-18. The week was full of activities directed towards the children in the church. Sunday was no short of activities either as it included action songs, scripture recitals, drama, poetry and spoken word.
The young but seasoned speaker for the day spoke on "equipping the child to possess the nations". He mentioned that children had a role to play in the possession of the nations. However, they needed to be equipped for it and parents played a major role in this. Drawing lessons from 1 Chronicles 22:1-6, he mentioned that David made sure to make available to Solomon all he'll need to build the temple for the Lord. In other words, he equipped him for the task before his departure.
He asked that parents adopted a holistic approach in doing this so as to cover as aspects of development. The holistic approach was to cover the spiritual, cognitive, economic and physical needs.
Elaborating on the spiritual, he charged parents to have devotions with their children, organise family fasts as well as provide them with Christian literature and videos. They were also to make sure they lived exemplary lives, he added.
Finally, speaking on the physical, he asked that parents did their best to provide children with their physical needs. This included but was not limited to shelter and clothing.
After the sermon, active members of the ministry were rewarded and prayers were said for the children.
