Gosple Sunday Celebration

'The Effects of Sin And The Redemptive Power Of Jesus' | Godfred Amu
Praise the Lord! Today was a Gospel Sunday and as it is done every last week of the month, we fellowshipped together by praying and sharing the Gospel. We had our brother, Godfred Amu share the Word of God with us during the 2nd Service on the theme, 'The Effects of Sin And The Redemptive Power Of Jesus'
In his introductory remarks, Bro Godfred opined that, the world as we see it today, is an imperfect one and a sharp contrast of what God true intents were when it was created. We are bedeviled with deaths, sicknesses/diseases, wars, pain and all manner of suffering because of sin and transgression. This, he said, was not the intent of God for mankind. We are faced with these happenings because man sinned against God and transgressed on his laws in the beginning. This singular act of disobedience made God turn his back on us which made us lose our through inheritance. Brother Godfred went on to define Sin as '..missing the mark' and Transgression as '...going beyond the mark'.
He explained that, sin comes in different forms and or types which include Inherited sins (Adamic sins) as espoused in the book of Romans chapter 5 vs.12. The second type of Sin, he called 'Concealed Sins' which are sins committed within our minds and hearts.
Brother Godfred continued that sin could be revealed through the Old Testaments Laws, our conscience and the Holy Spirit (1 John 1 vs.4). The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sinful nature and directs us back to God. 'The Holy Spirit changes our character to suit our personality', he quoted. Our personality is that, we are born of God and belongs to the family of Christ, he continued.
Brother Godfred further explained that, sin has great effects on us, in that, it draws us away from God and also gives an impression that God has forsaken us. He used Jesus' last moments on the cross as an example in Matthew chapter 27 vs. 46.
In all these, he says, God has not forsaken us but has made a remedy for our redemption and to reconcile us back to Himself. The remedy to sin has been made possible and accessible to everyone through the acceptance of the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives, he advised. He said, God made Jesus bear all our iniquities on the cross so we who were born sinful, lost and has lost favor with God could inherit righteousness and eternal life(John 3 vs. 16).
He concluded his message by encouraging the church to completely surrender to Jesus, accept Him as our saviour and repent of all sins. Jesus Christ is calling out to us because He has purchased and redeemed us by His blood(1 Cor 7 vs. 23, Revelations 1 vs. 5). We just have to surrender and leave our burdens unto him ...He is able to save!
