Service started at 7am with a time of prayer. The congregation expressed their gratitude to God for His supremacy and guidance over the last week. The Church observed its usual group-focused Bible Studies lessons on the topic "dealing with persecution at the workplace". The reference scripture was Daniel 6:1-10; 16-21.
PIWC Graceland was privileged to host a delegation of 8 men and women of God from the African Strategic Discipleship Movement. The head of the visiting delegation, Rev. Esaya Ersabo, ministered the word of God on the theme "Presenting a matured christian to Christ: The work of an evangelist". His exposition was based on Paul's letter to the Colossians as found in Colossians 1:28-29.
Rev. Ersabo reminded the Church that as disciples now turned disciplers (evangelists), Christians are to be fully matured in Christ so we can present men and women who are fully matured to the soon coming King. We can only give out what we have. Rev. told the congregation to disabuse their minds of thoughts that church fellowship is a measure of spiritual maturity. He argued that the standard of maturity in Christ goes beyond Sunday church attendance and the accompanying rituals. It involves a saved individual giving themselves fully to the work of discipling to populate the Kingdom of God. However, only a matured Christ-like individual can fully comprehend this assignment and fulfill it.
Evidence of an individual's maturity in Christ is seen in the changed life they live which becomes a testimony for the many others they nurture. For only a changed life can change lives, Rev. Ersabo pointed out. We know you are transformed when you are transforming lives around you. According to Rev. Ersabo, a changed/transformed life is characterized by:
1. Daily communion with God through scripture reading
2. An open heart to receive of God and share
3. Evident love for Jesus and all that concerns Him
Rev. Ersabo called on Christians to practice the Christ-like kind of discipleship by drawing people to God through our lifestyle. Discipleship is a life style. He said if the Church practiced the Christ-like way of discipleship, there will be a revival across the world. Apostle Paul strived to practice this kind of discipleship and to this effect he said "I labored day and night to see your lives changing".
Rev. Esayas Ersabo ended his message by calling on believers to endeavor to reach full maturity as we live to transform lives around us.
Rev. Esayas Ersabo ended his message by calling on believers to endeavor to reach full maturity as we live to transform lives around us. Ps. Ebenezer Agyapong led the congregation through the post-word prayer, asking God to help believers to remember to always live in Christ ,to love, and to grow in Him as we transform lives wherever we find ourselves.
