It was exciting and refreshing to meet everyone after the long break from congregational worship due to the restrictions to control the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ghana. The first service started at 7:00 am and the second service started at 8:30 am; both services lasted an hour while observing all the precautionary measures put in place due to the onset of the coronavirus disease.
The speaker for the first service was Elder Rashid Afolabi who spoke on “knowing the time, season and the purpose of God”. Elder Rashid stated that God has a purpose even in these times despite what it looks like and he buttressed this with Ecclesiastes 3 (To everything there is a season…). He encouraged the congregation to take advantage of the times and get closer to God which he believes is God’s purpose for the season.
Elder Vincent Akomeah continued as the speaker for the second service speaking on “surrendering unto the Lord”. He mentioned that many have been left burdened and troubled with the ongoing pandemic as well as the restrictions that have come with it, however, he urged the congregation to lay those burdens on God. He reminded the congregation that God had emphatically stated that even though a mother could forget her child, He, the Lord will never forget us (Isaiah 49:15). He asked that the congregation adopted a positive mindset stating that, “this too shall pass!”.
All in all, both services were enlightening and encouraging. Above all, we had the opportunity to have fellowship after quite a long time. If you missed out on the service, don’t worry, we have some pictures for you below. See you next week!
