This year's women's week celebration at PIWC-GRACELAND came to a glorious climax on Sunday, the 12th of May. The day doubling as mother's day internationally was just the icing on the cake.
The theme for the week-long celebration was "Women possessing the nations by possessing the home". The sermon of the day was delivered by Mrs Rosaline Quaye on the theme.
She broke down the theme by explaining the various components in it. She also explained that possession means to take charge of a place or person. She also stated that a home was more than a building; it is where you find love, respect and order.
Speaking from Proverbs 31, Mrs Quaye explained that the chapter was written about a mother giving counsel to her son about women. The mother first spoke about women with negative character traits but was quick to add that not all were bad. She called those with positive character traits as virtuous women and did not hesitate to praise them. Mrs Quaye added that the virtuous woman was praised because of her ability to keep her home in check.
Mrs Quaye stated that the modern woman usually ends up stressed and finds it difficult to keep the home in check. It is not easy to keep a good home, but it is possible. She encouraged women to work hard to support their family, the home should have priority. She admonished mothers to take interest in the lives of their children as well as help their husbands take decisions.
She cited Ruth as an example of a virtuous woman for her hardworking nature and her loyalty to Naomi. She further stated that due to her service to her mother-in-law she received good counsel which helped secure a good husband. She challenged women to transcend beyond just looking good especially at church to actually being good; more especially at home.
Concluding, she mentioned that God has no pleasure in having anyone perish in sin. Jesus had become our kinsman-redeemer to save us and she encouraged all to surrender their lives to him.
After the sermon, intercessory prayers were said for all ladies present and the homes of all who were married. The various ministries presented their mother's day messages to all ladies present. Thank you for joining us! Have Questions? Do get in touch!
