Patience-Essential To Experiencing God’s Best

Sunday July 28 morning’s message was introduced with the rhetorical question “Does God have good intention for His people?” The speaker for the day, Elder Vincent Okyere Akomeah referenced John 10:10 to answer to this question. He reminded the congregation that God has always and will always have good intentions for His people. Dwelling on the story of Moses and the Israelite and God’s assurance to take them to the promised Land, Elder Akomeah drew the attention of the Church to the fact that God has always provided “milk and honey” for His children.

The preacher prompted the Church of the fact that through Christ, believers are now the spiritual Jews, God’s children. Jesus has given us life and this life we are given is based on promise. With flashback to the days of Jeremiah, Elder Akomeah explained that believers tend to be impatient and depend on the word of deceitful men. But God has always had reason for having His people wait. He assures His children that His plans for them are true and real, Jeremiah 29: 11.

The dynamics of our current world tend to press on us the need to have things fast-tracked for us. Because everything around us is fast-tracked, Christians are caught up in a society that self-gratifies. The pressures of this trend cause the unfocused believer to sway or desire paced returns. However, we are reminded that patience is a Christian virtue we must exhibit- reference Galatians 5:22.

It is an unfortunate reality that more and more believers are losing patience. Believers are called to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit through patience. It is worth noting that patience is not just the ability to wait but the ability to keep good virtue while waiting.

Patience is characterized by the following; 1. Faith- We must trust in He who diligently rewards those who wait on Him- Mathew 8: 5-13. Our faith in God must be proven as God is in the business of building relationships with us. Believers must not compromise their faith for worldly gain. We must be conscious of the fact that though it seem unlikely sometimes, Jesus never slumbers on our situations (Mathew 8: 23-26, Psalm 46: 1-3).
2. Discernment of God’s timing
3. Obedience to the Word of God
4. Determination to wait
5. Acknowledging the perfection of God’s timing to the moment
6. Living a life of contentment

Elder Akomeah concluded his message by reminding believers that God who has called us is faithful and He will not leave us sink.
